Ethique's products are designed with sustainability in mind. They have created the "Compact by Design" initiative to identify products that, while they may not always look very different, have a more efficient design. With the removal of excess air and water, products require less packaging and become more efficient to ship. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions.

Ethique's Curl Defining Shampoo Bar is formulated to deliver soft, defined curls by gently cleansing without drying. The bar is infused with nourishing ingredients like shea butter, betaine (from sugar beets), and cocoa butter for softer hair and defined curls. It is free from sulfates, silicones, drying alcohols, and waxes.

Each shampoo bar lasts at least 80 washes, equivalent to three bottles of liquid shampoo. To use, simply stroke the bar down wet hair, and it will lather. The bar comes in recyclable, home-compostable packaging. Users can tear up the box and pop it in their compost bin or bury it in their garden to return nutrients to the soil.
